The yearly civil protection test alarm will take place on Saturday, 4th October 2025, between 12:00 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. all over Austria. It is possible to warn or alert the population in case of emergency with more than 8.000 sirens. In addition to the siren test, the digital warning system
AT-Alert
will also be broadcast nationwide.
Between 12 noon and 12.45 pm, after the initial “Siren test” signal, the three civil protection signals indicating a “Warning”, an “Alarm” and the “All-clear” will be heard throughout Austria. The alarm test serves on the one hand to check all the technical installations of the warning and alarm system, and on the other hand to familiarise the population with these signals and their meaning.
Detailed schedule:
- 12:00 PM – SIREN TEST, 15-second continuous tone. Activated at the state level by the State Warning Centers.
- 12:15 PM – WARNING, 3-minute continuous tone. Activated nationwide by the Federal Warning Center at the Ministry of the Interior.
- 12:30 PM – ALERT, 1-minute wailing tone (rising and falling). Activated at the state level by the State Warning Centers.
